TENNIS NEWS - JUNE 2008 RUSTY RACQUETS This summer we are offering a Rusty Racquets League on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. If you are new to the sport of tennis or haven't picked up a racquet in a few years you can enjoy a league with instruction from our pros, Dave and Amanda, every other week and round robin play on alternating weeks. This league, which begins on July 2nd, is a nine week session offered at $50 per person. We encourage new and returning players to take advantage of this special offer. This price includes pizza and beer on the final night, August 27th. Please sign up by emailing, faxing or phoning the office by June 20th. You can also register on our website: sarniaridingclub.com TENNIS CLINICS Our tennis pros will be conducting a variety of tennis clinics for all levels of players. We will be working on different strokes, strategy, etc. throughout the summer. The cost will be $10.00 per clinic. Please register with the office. FRIDAY NIGHT SCRAMBLES Come on out to these round robin format scrambles with Dave, and drink, eat and play tennis! Each night will have a specified event (e.g. men's singles, women's doubles) where anyone can register before or just show up at 7pm. Matches will be pro sets to 8 and the winner will receive a free pitcher of beer. Bring the spouses! $10 per person for play. Watch for details in the porch bar. TENNIS LESSONS Tennis lessons for our junior players started the week of June 2nd. Amanda and Dave are offering private lessons for juniors and adults. Please call the office if you are interested: 519-542-5588. Adult Private Tennis Lessons: ½ hour = $17.00 1 hour = $30.00
ROUND ROBINS Join in for some fun round robin tennis (we usually play doubles) every Sunday afternoon at 3pm. All levels are welcome. You do not have to sign up in advance – singles and couples welcome. JUNIOR TOURNAMENT The first of five scheduled junior tournaments will be held June 19th + 20th and, if necessary, the 21st. This first tournament will have both a girl's and boy's singles division, with tournaments to follow later in the summer, including doubles and mixed doubles divisions. All students are welcome, with two matches guaranteed! $8 entry fee and bring one can of un-opened tennis balls. Please have your children sign up with Dave or through the office. REUNION TENNIS SCRAMBLE On Saturday, June 28th, as part of the Riding Club's 100 Year Celebration, there will be a Reunion Tennis Scramble on the courts from 1-3pm. Adult tennis players currently at the club and those alumni former members are welcome to come out and play some social round robin tennis and enjoy reconnecting with their Riding Club friends. Please sign up by Thursday, June 26th. ROGERS CUP The Riding Club has booked a block of tickets for the Rogers Cup in Toronto on Wednesday, July 23rd. These are great lower bowl seats in the beautiful Rexall Centre. Cost is $110 for ticket and transportation via air-conditioned coach from Badder Bus Lines, or $68 for tennis ticket only. All of the top men players, including the last four champions – Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Roddick will be playing. Sign up on the bulletin board in the porch bar. TENNIS FOOTWEAR For your safety, your footwear while on the tennis courts, should be tennis shoes or other non-marking running shoes. Please, no crocs or sandals on the courts.
